The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has been providing opportunities for continuing and developmental education to those who have missed the opportunities to complete school through various courses and programmes from primary to pre-degree level. NIOS provides opportunities for continuing education to interested learners through Open Basic Education, Secondary and Senior Secondary Level Education, Vocational Education and Life Enrichment Programmes.

NIOS run by national open school society (an autonomous body under Ministry of human Resource Development, the Government of India). NIOS offers registration and enrollment in NIOS through its Accredited Institutions (AIs).
